Dance Out News
Dance Out 22nd March Weekend Dance Out - We have been invited to do a performance for the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Saturday March 22 at 7:30pm. ALL dancers are invited to participate even if all they can do is pas de bas. The show is at their lodge in Acadia so it is not far away. Observer space will be limited so we ask that only one parent accompany their child and that no extra siblings attend. Thank you in advance for honouring this request. Please let Jennifer know ASAP if you are able to perform and she will pass your name on to Heather who will be in charge of the dance credits etc. and who is our parent contact for this dance out. We hope this will be a chance for some of the younger dancers to perform and see the older dancers in action!

Teacher News
wpe1.jpg (995 bytes) 26 April 2008 Hi Everyone:

Kelsie Zebrun and Jennifer George are going out on June 7, 2008, in our bright yellow underwear and knee high socks, to walk the streets of Calgary in the Alberta Cancer Society's Underwear Affair. Our team's name is Booties and the Beast (Jen's husband Les is the Beast) and we all have someone dear to us who is currently fighting cancer. Jen's dad has spent 3 weeks since Easter fighting cancer at the Rockyview Hospital. He is still there. But we are making a difference! Our team is currently in 3rd place out of over 120 Calgary teams!!!

The money goes directly to help Alberta Cancer Foundation uncover a cure for cancers below the waist. Please help me go the distance by sending this note to all of your friends, family and co-workers. We're all in this together. When we kick cancers 'down there' to the curb, everyone wins the race.

As an added incentive Jen's mom Marg of Marg's Highland Dance Wear Inc. has offered up 3.5 meters of in-stock tartan of your choice to the winner of a Highland Dance community draw. For every $20 donated to a member of our team you will receive a ticket into the draw for the tartan!

To make a donation simply go to www.uncoverthecure.org or http://www.uncoverthecure.org/site/TR/Events/Calgary2008?team_id=11371&pg=te  and search the team "Booties and the Beast". It will even allow you to split your donation between members of the team if you want. We will do the draw on June 7th at the Calgary competition right before we head downtown to strut our 5K in our underwear.

Love,

Jennifer George and Kelsie Zebrun

2 March 2008 BATD Medal Tests & Workshop - We wanted to tell you how proud we are of how you did today in your exams! You all looked so lovely and you tried very hard. You all did great! You  will get your papers and marks on Monday. A big thank you to my mom for picking up the examiner on Thursday night and to Colin (Devon's dad) for driving her to and from her hotel on Friday. Thank you also to Devon and Sarah for their help setting up the studio in the morning. The workshop tonight was a hit. Mrs. Krugh was funny and really got the girls working on their technique. Thank you to Heather for her work leading up to the workshop and to Karen and Marg for their work at the event. Kelsie and I are very fortunate to have such supportive and hard working parents and dancers. You guys are SUPER!
5 February  2008 2007 Tax Receipts - I am working on your tax receipts for 2007 and your child will bring them home from dance class either this week or next. Please watch for them.  For more info on this click on this LINK.
20 January  2008 BATD 2007 North American Workshop, Edmonton, AB - Sarah and Devon each did some medal test exams on Thursday prior to the weekend's activities. Devon did very well in the scholarship on Friday. It started at 9am and ended at 6pm!  She came in 3 out of 43 in the written paper exam. She performed her choreography for the crowd, she did a beautiful job and I was very pleased with her effort in this very stressful day! Sarah, Devon and Naomi all danced in the mock judging competition Friday night for the SOBHD judges exam candidates. They then scarped down some pizza and hit the hay pretty early after a busy day! Sarah L, Naomi and Devon participated in championship classes, Nationals classes, perfecting technique classes, Jazz, Step Dance, Hip Hop and Social  Dance classes. Jen tried her hand at Step Dancing and Kelsie participated in the Social Dance. The Dinner and Dance Party on Saturday night was loads of fun. Scotia was a hit in her Silk tartan dress. It was Jen's mom's birthday so we embarrassed her by lighting a candle on her cheesecake and the whole crowd sang Happy B-day....upwards of 250 people! A Champagne Brunch kicked off Sunday morning...YUM! Pictures from this very fun event are posted on the pictures page.
